Back at the end of 2010 I wrote a lengthy blog post hailing 2011 as The Year of SEO. SEO, of course did not start in 2011 nor was it the year when it became less challenging. As a matter of fact quite the opposite happened. 2011 became the year when all the tiny changes and refinements Google had been making throughout 2010, came together into a massive algorithmic change which shook the SEO universe to its foundations.
The Google Panda update which was introduced in April 2011 and its subsequent refinements which went on until June of 2011 changed SEO practices forever and created a chorus of woe as website after website, some legit and some a little less so, suffered a significant drop in traffic.
Incidentally HelpMySEO is full of articles in the SEO Tips section detailing who may have been affected and what can be done about it and there is even a paid resource called Google Panda Update SEO Health Check which for just $2,99 takes you through everything you need to do in order to assess your website’s SEO status after the Google Panda update, spot any issues and then, fix them.
But I am digressing. 2011 for all its tumultuous change which made SEO novices again out of seasoned SEO professionals and caused webmasters everywhere to rethink their SEO strategy, really was the year of SEO because, suddenly, SEO stopped being a term which needed to be explained. Quite the opposite in fact. Webmasters who in years past might have frowned their eyebrows and muttered under their breath ‘SEO who?’ now were amongst the first to line up and ask just what did they have to do in order to get their website to appear on the first page of Google?
In this SEO Made Easy podcast we look at just what you need to do so that you achieve just that. Best-selling SEO and Social Media Marketing author, David Amerland, explains.
