When we ask those who work for us, or with us to exercise their initiative we are really asking those around us to make on-the-spot decisions that are for the good of the business exercising the same criteria that the CEO or the owners would.
That means that everyone within the business, empowered to use their initiative, is “in the loop” so they can make those decisions.
They are on board with corporate values. They know about company imperatives. They believe in the motto of the business with the same passion as its founders. They are then prepared to put the good of the business above their own immediate self-interest.

The world is changing. Not overnight and not all at once, but it is changing nevertheless. In my talks to corporate groups, CEOs, VPs and industry leaders I gleam insights of how this change is happening. What evidence exists. Why some things happen and not others and how we can best take advantage of it all to do better. In Observations I catalogue it all. Brief, to the point and open to discussion.
