"Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat." Sun Tzu may have been talking about war but he was really offering a chicken or the egg question.
Which comes first the product or the process? Product keeps us excited. We see the end goal. Imagine the success. Almost taste the riches. Process is what gets us there. It is hard work. Methodical, head down and grind away stuff.
Product is glory. Process is work. Product is highly visible. Process a lot less so. I know we all know we have to work hard for the glory but few actually link the two in a way that leads to the desired outcome.
So, when you are in your organization where is the weight being given the most? Product or process? Is there a balance that really works?
The world is changing. Not overnight and not all at once, but it is changing nevertheless. In my talks to corporate groups, CEOs, VPs and industry leaders I gleam insights of how this change is happening. What evidence exists. Why some things happen and not others and how we can best take advantage of it all to do better. In Observations I catalogue it all. Brief, to the point and open to discussion.
